Strawberry Shortcake

The All-American Dessert Book Strawberry Shortcake

This is a great homemade shortcake, and really hits the spot after a great Fourth of July cookout, just sitting around talking.

You will need the following for your homemade shortcake, this recipe will feed about 6

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/4 cup skim milk

For the filling you will need
2 pints fresh strawberries (you will need to slice these)
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 tablespoon sugar

you can use vanilla yogurt and mint leaves to put on your plate for a garnish

Step 1 Preheat your oven to 450. Spray a baking sheet with a vegetable cooking spray. (I use Pam) Then set your baking pan aside
Step 2 Take a large mixing bowl, and sift the flour, sugar, and your baking powder. Then add your grated orange peel
I take a fork and mixing the butter to the flour misture until I have coarse crumbs. Then stir in the milk and mix until the mixture is a soft dough

Step 3 Lightly flour a cutting board and begin rolling out your mixture to about 1/2 inch thickness, then take a biscuit cutter ( I just use an glass )to cut out your biscuits. Place your cut out biscuits on your baking sheet. Bake for 12 or 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 4 Preparing your filling. Take a large bowl add strawberrie, sugar and your orange juice and mix

Step 5 Split your warm biscuit in half, put the bottoms of your biscuits on serving plate and add your filling and top with your top half of the biscuit. you can then use the remaining filling if you have any left to garnish your dessert along with the mint leaves and yougart

Oreo Mud Pie

Oreo Mud Pie

This dessert goes over great with the younger children.

You will need the following to make your Orep Mud Pie.

28 Oreo cookies
2 Tablespoons butter
1/2 gal of Chocolate Ice Cream
1/2 Cup of Chocolate Fudge
1/2 Cup of Whipped Cream
1/4 Cup walnuts or peanuts

Take your 14 of your cookies and finely crush them. (I find putting them into a baggie and rolling with a rolling pin works for me.) Mix cookies and melted butter into a bowl. Then press them firmly into a 9 inch pie pan.Take the remaining cookies and stand them up along the edge of your pie pan. Put this into the freezer for 10 minutes. Remove from the freezer and spread the 1/2 gal of chocolate ice cream into the pan, freeze for 4 hours.
after 4 hours you top with the fudge, nuts, and whipped cream.

This is so good on a hot Fourth of July, and the kids will love it.

Hawaiian Wedding Cake

Hi I hope everyone had a great Easter. I am sorry I have not posted anything new, I had a fall and have been a little under the weather. I will post my daughters favorite dessert that she has to have to make the Fourth Of July complete.

Hawaiian Wedding Cake

This dessert you must referigate before servering. This is a very simple and tastes great.
You will need the following
1 White Jiffy Cake mix
2 large French Vanilla instant pudding
1 8oz Philidelphia Crean Cheese
3 Cups of Milk
1 Large can of crushed Pineapple
1 Large Cool Whip
Cocount is optional If you want to add cocount you will just need a small bag to sprinkle some on the top of your finished cake

First take your cake mix and follow the directions on the box. Set your oven at the degrees stated on the box for a pan size of 13x9. Let your cake cool down.

Your next step while the cake is in the oven would be let your cream cheese soften at room tempture, get your mixing bowl and put in the softened cream cheese and take your mixer and mix the cream cheese, then add to that your 2 large French Vanilla pudding(sometimes its hard to find the french vanilla pudding if so just use vanilla make sure its the instant)mix slowly when you have it mixed up add your 3 cups of milk. Again you will want to mix slowly because it will fly all over.

When you have your cake cooled, take your vanilla mixture and pour over cake, then spread with a knife.

Now you will take your large crushed pineapple, drain it and spread over your vanilla mixture

Now you take your cool whip and spread over the top. There you have your new dessert
If your adding cocount spread over the top to your taste.

I hope you and your family will enjoy this as much as my family does

Free Dessert Recipes for the Fourth of July

Free Dessert Recipes for the Fourth of July

Hi.. I am writting a blog on Free Dessert Recipes for the Fourth of July. Many people right now are looking and searching for a new recipe to take to a family gathering, they want to try something they have never made yet. Wanting to bring a new and exciting dessert dish. I hope that through my blog I can help someone find a great recipe, for a tastey new dessert. I am hoping others will let me put some of their great dessert dishes on my post, and also when some tries a dessert I posted to let me know about how their dessert turned out and how their family felt about the dessert.

I can remember many times looking for a new dessert, the time I spent searching through recipe books and recipes that someone gave me, and then the search on the computer wow that took so much time, that I ended up just bring the same dessert I had made for the last 2 July fourth family gathering. Don't get wrong the dessert I took was good, but I just wanted somthing different, something new and exciting.

I know every one has a dish that the family loves, when we start to plan for our Fourth of July gathering, we always ask my sister to bring her macorni salad, she makes the best, and they automaticly say mom your going to bring your cole slaw right, and with me it's you know your going to bring the cheese cake. The family expects these dishes, so I always bring the cheese cake, but I also bring a new dessert. I have a large family, I have 2 brothers and one sister, and now there are grandkids, and great grandkids, so I always make sure I bring something I know the small ones will love. Can't forget them.

I just enjoy trying new and different desserts, I know others like that also. This is my reason for writing my blog. Free dessert recipes for the fourth of July will help others find the perfect recipe, I am very excited about this blog. I hope like I mentioned earlier in this article, that others will allow me to post some of theirs great desert recipes.

Many people make the same desserts, but they add something different then others do. This dessert may look the same but taste totaly different than the I would make, so through my blog Free Desserts for the Fourth-Of-July, I am hoping to come accross a lot of different and exciting new desserts
